The new House Of Blues on the Boardwalk
Well, the party started early. I took off for New Jersey a couple of days early
to stay with Michael and his family. The rest of the guys rolled in a couple days
later. We all went into Atlantic City a day early to get checked into the hotel. Once
everybody got settled, they were all anxious to head over to the club and chec it out.
I knew Aykroyd was in town early, so we set out to see if we could find him and get the
tour. We found our way to the Foundation Room upstairs and started asking around. It
wasn't long before one of the guys spotted Dan and yelled at me to chase him down. I took
off and caught up with him. He always is walking at the speed of sound to get somewhere.
He grabbed me by the arm and said "come on". We made it to the entrance to the club, which
was roped off in red ropes (like the VIP line at every Hollywood event). I told him the
other guys were waiting for me back around the corner. He said to go get them and meet him
back there, he would have someone let us through. I went back and got the guys. We headed
back to the entrance. Low and behold, who comes out to grab the rope aside and let us through,
Dan himself. He said "Right this way gentlemen, follow me". He led us to the back hall where
we caught the elevator and we all climbed in. He asked me if we got in the hotel okay and
got settled in. He said he was excited that we could make it out. We talked a little businss.
We rode a floor or two up and when the doors opened, we were smack dab in the upper level of
the club itself. Right next to the bar. Dan said to help ourselves. Right away I saw our
old buddy Tom Davis (from the old days), Jim Belushi, Jesse Donnelly (Jim's manager), Tony
Braunagel (drummer) and most of The Sacred Hearts Band, Paul Shafer, Skunk Baxter, and all
of Danny's Canadian biker crew.
Looking down at the stage on the level below us was Rapper Emminem. I was never a fan of
the Rap stuff. It was an odd cross over from walking into that scene with Danny and then seeing
that as well. Had a couple drinks with Jim and Tony and Davis, and talked to Dan about sound
check time the next day for the show. We had a blast.
I'VE GOT A TON MORE PHOTOS AND STORIES TO PUT OUT HERE SOON.
I JUST WANTED TO GET THE LAMONT WEBSITE BACK OUT HERE RIGHT AWAY.
