BRANDON SCOTT SELLNER

BAND MEMBERS

Rick Montpetit

Rick was born and raised in St. Paul, MN. He started out playing the drums, and was in his first band while still in high school. After a few years, he switched over to bass-a transition he found easy, and he's been in several Twin Cities bands since.
Rick listens to a lot of different music, but says he would have to say that he has strong roots in 70's rock. He also leans toward the music styles that came out of Seattle in the 90's. What Rick played had always been on the heavy side, so blues was somewhat of a departure for him. He's embraced it, though, as a reinvention of his own style. He tries to bring a little of that heavy edge to what Brandon is doing, and I think we'd all agree it's working out very well! As far as how Rick feels about performing with Brandon Scott Sellner, he says, "I'm really happy with the way things are going. We're out there playing music for people, and having the best time doing it. The guys are great to perform with, and we all get along really well. We have a lot of fun; everyone has a good sense of humor and that's important to me. I have a saying...If you can't laugh at yourself, I'll do it for you!"
Among Rick's other interests are photography and music/video production. He and Brandon hope to have a DVD put together this summer titled "Brandon Scott Sellner".
In his off time, Rick enjoys disc golf and movies. He's also a big fan of good food!

Brad Wynveen

Brad grew up in Baldwin, WI. He lived with his mother and step-father until he was a freshman in high school. At that time, his mother moved to Washington, and he decided to stay with his dad so he could stay with his friends and graduate with them. In 2003, he graduated from Baldwin-Woodville High School.
Brad started playing piano at the age of five, which gives him a total of 19 years experience on it! His grandmother inspired him by playing for him often when he was a boy. Private lessons started when he was eight, and went on for seven years. He took some advanced piano courses in college as well. From ages 10-15, Brad was in many competitions. He usually ended up with a perfect score, and was able to perform at honor recitals!
Brad was in band, in the percussion section, from 5th grade to his senior year. He also learned to play bass guitar in 6th grade and participated in jazz band all through high school. His involvement in the arts doesn't stop there, though! He started acting in plays in 5th grade, and was involved in theatre performances throughout high school. He even went as far as state competitions for his acting skills!
In the summer of 2006, Brad toured with a Christian rock band to Singapore; he spent two weeks training in Minnesota with musicians from all over the U.S. After the training, they flew overseas for the month of Singapore performances! Brad still plays the piano and the bass guitar when he gets a chance in his Hudson, WI, church, something he's been doing for about the past five years.
In July, 2007, Brad started playing live music in downtown Hudson. He was invited to play at an open jam at a club called The Twisted Grille. It wasn't long afterward that Brandon asked if he'd be interested in playing keys in his band to fill in the sound. Brad auditioned, and he was in! With a short break in between when he returned to college, Brad returned to play with the band in July of 2008. Brad calls it, "an opportunity I never would have expected; I'm having a blast, and it's a learning experience, too." He says he feels blessed to be performing with such an awesome group of guys.
Brad has diverse tastes in music. His interests range from classical to jazz, regea to skaa, rock to heavy metal, and alternative rock to, of course, the blues. He is a fan of Sublime, Bob Marley, Incubus, Billy Joel, Cold Play, Pink Floyd, Victor Borge, Brahms, Yanni, Fredric Chopin, Scott Joplin, and many others...he loves all of Brandon's songs, but he says his favorite has to be "Baby Blue Eyed Girl".
Brad plays for weddings when he's able, has taught lessons in the past, and would love to return to teaching beginners.

Chance Jean

Chance Jean, the Brandon Scott Sellner drummer, started playing drums when he was a mere seven years old. He knew then that he wanted to be involved in music for the rest of his life. He has sat in for many groups along his drumming journey, as well as played the role of guitar tech, drum tech, stage manager, tour manager, and stage hand.
Some artists/tours he had the wonderful opportunities to work with include Paul McCartney, Lili Haydn/Page and Plant (The Walking Into Everywhere Tour of '98), Vince Neil of Motley Crue, Joey Molland of Badfinger, Dana Strum of Slaughter (the individual who introduced heavy metal guitarist Randy Rhoads to Ozzy Osbourne), Tommy Stewart of Godsmack, Zoltan Chaney-drummer for Vince Neil, and the bands The Gin Blossoms and Anthrax. Chance says they are all great people, and he especially appreciates how Dana Strum created many exceptionally good experiences in his life, and also that Jimmy Page and Robert Plant treated him and the other people around them like family.
Among the favorite places Chance has been through his years in the music business are the entire U.S.A. and Europe-Italy, Switzerland, England, Germany, France, Spain, Belgium, Norway, the Czech Republic, Sweden, Finland, Bulgaria, Denmark, Romania, Scotland, Amsterdam, Latvia, Turkey, the Soviet Union, South America, Puerto Rico, and many more! He says among the most interesting moments would be during the 8 hour train trip from St. Petersburg, Russia, to Moscow...the food car and the vodka were an EXPERIENCE!
When asked to list his favorite drummers, Chance said they include Buddy Rich, Cozy Powell, Keith Moon, John Bonham, Max Weinberg, and Zoltan Chaney. In his free time, Chance enjoys canoeing and camping. He also loves hockey.
